We have a number of appointments available up to 3 weeks in advance. If you require a routine or follow-up appointment for an ongoing problem, or for a review, it is advisable to book in advance.
Monday evening appointments are pre-bookable appointments with a doctor or practice nurse for those patients who work full-time.
Appointments are also released each morning for patients who need to be seen that day.
Sometimes, it may be more convenient for you to speak to a doctor or nurse by telephone rather than visiting the surgery. If so, please ask for a telephone appointment. The doctors are very happy to do this in appropriate circumstances.
Morning or afternoon telephone appointments can be arranged by our reception staff. A specific time cannot be given; calls are often made by the doctor at the end of morning or afternoon surgery but could be made earlier if the doctor is available. Please let us know which phone number we can contact you on.
Telephone appointments are appropriate for simple queries and advice where examination is not required. Some examples of consultations which can usually be done over the phone are:
Any patient who has an urgent medical need will ALWAYS be seen the same day, usually at the end of surgery. Please let the receptionist know if you need to be seen as an emergency. Our emergency line is open from 8:00am and 6:00pm and between 12:30 and 2:00pm on Mondays when the surgery is closed.
Following a National Government initiative from 1st September 2018 extra appointments will be offered across the whole of East Staffordshire, including evening and weekend appointments.
Additionally a new on line digital service for over 18s only will be available on Sunday mornings where appointments will be offered with a GP via the Q Doctor App. Posters will be available in the surgery shortly; please click on this link for further details https://www.qdoctor.io/
All 18 practices across East Staffordshire are participating in this extended access service. For further information please contact the surgery reception. Please note: these appointments are not available to book online using Patient Access

As an alternative to seeing a doctor, you can book, or may be offered an appointment with our nurse prescriber Paula Dumolo. Paula can help with:
· Sore throats/coughs/colds/'flu like illness
· Allergies/hay fever/conjunctivitis
· Cystitis/urinary tract infections
· Musculoskeletal pain/sprains
· Skin problems – rashes/impetigo
· Emergency contraception
This is not a complete list – please ask if you are unsure.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel an appointment. Each week appointments are wasted when patients do not turn up and fail to notify us. This means that we have less appointments to offer to patients who need them. Patients who repeatedly fail to attend appointments will be contacted by the surgery and may ultimately be asked to register elsewhere.
Your co-operation would be greatly appreciated
The standard appointment time for the doctors is 10 minutes and is for one person only. If you have more than one problem or have a complex problem to discuss, please request a longer appointment when booking. Appointments with our GP registrar or junior doctor may take between 15-30 minutes.
We are a group practice and you may see any of the doctors, not just the one you are registered with. Wherever possible, we will try to offer an appointment with the doctor of your choice, however details of your medical record are available to all doctors, so we would ask for your co-operation in seeing any of our doctors.
Occasionally we run late with our appointments, usually because someone has needed more time than was booked. Please be patient and understanding if this is the case as it may be you who needs extra time on another occasion.
Getting the most out of your appointment is important for both patients and doctors and nurses. Click on the NHS leaflet below to get top tips on how to get the best from your appointment. Remember a standard appointment is for 10 minutes and is for one issue - if you feel you need longer or have multiple issues to discuss, please ask to book a longer appointment.

Appointment Text Reminders is an automated messaging system that sends text messages to patients with a valid mobile phone number, to remind them of future appointments they have booked or to send specific messages to you about your care. It also helps to reduce the number of missed appointments.
It's a free service and messages are usually sent 2 days before the appointment.
This service is only available to patients aged 16 and over.
PLEASE TELL RECEPTION IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES
This is the mobile number displayed when you receive these messages:07903 588845 so you may find it useful to add this number as a Contact on your phone.
Please do not send messages to this number, apart from Decline (to cancel your appointment) or other requested replies, as this is not a monitored number.
If you are unable to get to the surgery and request a home visit, please try to phone before 10.30am. Our staff may ask if the patient can come to the surgery and will also ask the reason for the visit.
Before the doctor visits, they may telephone you to clarify the situation. Most visits are done after the end of our morning surgery, after 12.30pm.
House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.
Community Frailty Service
To support and keep in touch with those patients who are frail, elderly and /or vulnerable and who are unable to come into surgery, we offer a pre-arranged home visits with a GP.
This service is different from, and in addition to , our usual home visit request service which we operate daily.
Patients who meet the criteria for this service will be contacted directly by the surgery to arrange a visit. These visits are not available on request.
The surgery has access and facilities for disabled patients. We also have disabled parking spaces which are reserved for patients displaying a disabled sticker/badge.
For patients with hearing problems we have a loop induction kit – please inform the receptionist if you require this service.
In certain circumstances the doctor or nurse may feel it is appropriate to have a chaperone present during your consultation or examination
If you wish, you may ask for a chaperone to be present
All surgery staff who act as chaperones have been trained appropriately
