at the surgery,
on-line (if you have registered for on-line appointments).
We offer several types of appointments:
We have a number of appointments available up to 3 weeks in advance. If you require a routine or follow-up appointment for an ongoing problem, or for a review, it is advisable to book in advance.
Monday evening appointments are pre-bookable appointments with a doctor or practice nurse for those patients who work full-time.
'On the day' appointments
Appointments are also released each morning for patients who need to be seen that day.
Sometimes, it may be more convenient for you to speak to a doctor or nurse by telephone rather than visiting the surgery. If so, please ask for a telephone appointment. The doctors are very happy to do this in appropriate circumstances.
Morning or afternoon telephone appointments can be arranged by our reception staff. A specific time cannot be given; calls are often made by the doctor at the end of morning or afternoon surgery but could be made earlier if the doctor is available. Please let us know which phone number we can contact you on.
Telephone appointments are appropriate for simple queries and advice where examination is not required. Some examples of consultations which can usually be done over the phone are:
- General advice
- Medication reviews - unless a blood pressure check or other check is required
- Blood results - if the doctor needs to speak to you about the results, you will be notified when you contact the surgery
- Repeat sick notes
- Minor ailment advice
- Some blood results - e.g. cholesterol
Any patient who has an urgent medical need will ALWAYS be seen the same day, usually at the end of surgery. Please let the receptionist know if you need to be seen as an emergency. Our emergency line is open from 8:00am and 6:00pm and between 12:30 and 2:00pm on Mondays when the surgery is closed.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel an appointment. Each week appointments are wasted when patients do not turn up and fail to notify us. This means that we have less appointments to offer to patients who need them. Patients who repeatedly fail to attend appointments will be contacted by the surgery and may ultimately be asked to register elsewhere.

As an alternative to seeing a doctor, you can book, or may be offered an appointment with our nurse prescriber Paula Dumolo. Paula can help with:
· Sore throats/coughs/colds/'flu like illness
· Allergies/hay fever/conjunctivitis
· Cystitis/urinary tract infections
· Musculoskeletal pain/sprains
· Skin problems – rashes/impetigo
· Emergency contraception

General Appointment Information
The standard appointment time for the doctors is 10 minutes and is for one person only. If you have more than one problem or have a complex problem to discuss, please request a longer appointment when booking. Appointments with our GP registrar or junior doctor may take between 15-30 minutes.
We are a group practice and you may see any of the doctors, not just the one you are registered with. Wherever possible, we will try to offer an appointment with the doctor of your choice, however details of your medical record are available to all doctors, so we would ask for your co-operation in seeing any of our doctors.
Occasionally we run late with our appointments, usually because someone has needed more time than was booked. Please be patient and understanding if this is the case as it may be you who needs extra time on another occasion.
